After watching the trailers of various movies and looking at the cuts that are made I would like you to describe a cut - its definition, purpose and where it happens.  Also, consider the ways that cuts can heighten interest, drama etc.

Pick a new trailer and include the link in your blog post and describe how it uses cuts and whether or not you believe the cuts are used effectively.  How could they be improved?

it doesn't use many cuts. instead it has longer clips with lots of dialog and story. this makes it feel slower paced and story driven

I found that there were cuts where more conflict was involved and during exposition times, the cuts started to slow down more. There were very many cuts in the trailer that I watched. The right amount of cuts will make the trailer more interesting or intense and really make a person want to go see the show or movie the trailer's advertising.

The cuts in the trailer above are varied. Some are very sharp and others are dull and are more transitioned. The sharper ones indicate action scenes and the duller ones are more dramatic. The cuts in the trailer occur very often because they capture the viewers’ attention. I believe the cuts are used very effectively because I was entertained the entire time, and that is the purpose of the cuts

The cuts in this trailer vary from slow to fast, depending on the level of drama. During the dramatic moments, the cuts would be very fast and in pace with the music. During the less dramatic parts, the cuts would be slower. Most of the cuts were blunt and short, especially for the faster ones. Some of them were slower to create anticipation.

The cuts in the trailer are mostly action oriented. The movie looks really exciting from the trailer's view. The cuts are very well done and the length is just right, making you excited for the movie.

it starts with slower cuts to make it seem dramatic and epic. as it speeds up there becomes faster and faster cuts. then it slows down for an important quote. then it cuts to a funny scene in the end. the faster cuts build excitment and the last cut is just to show that it is not all serious. the cuts match the tone of the music

The cuts in the trailer are slow at the beginning and get faster towards the end of the trailer. At the beginning the cuts are there to create the atmosphere and in the end they create excitement and tension and they are action-orientated.
The trailer has a good length and I want to watch the movie even more after it.

it starts off slow but give you the right info that you need. The cuts are slower paced but it has a lot of dialog. it also made reference to the previous movie as a good trailer to a sequel should

the trailer started really good but then became really fast cuts that were hard to keep up with. watched it three times, pausing to get the storyline and which characters were involved
